Now that it’s October, it’s time to highlight our absolute favourite makeup looks and artists. Every Monday, we’ll share a look, tip or artist that forever changed our makeup game. Say hello to FEMALE Beauty Faves. It’s Makeup Monday with a twist!
Fall has dawned on us (even though it’s sunny all year round in Malaysia, but we’ll just play along) so it’s only appropriate that we switch up our makeup to suit different seasons.
Everyone who knows me knows that I love watching beauty tutorials on Youtube and it’s no surprise that I came across PatrickStarr, makeup extraordinaire whose techniques are beyond my mere mortal capabilities, so I just watch and admire his creations.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see him work with former Disney Channel star, Ashley Tisdale who has her own channel which totally spoke to me as her makeup looks are exquisitely effortless. So if you’re like me, one who loves to change up her look from time to time with minimal effort, then you should definitely give this one a shot!
Step 1: Start with a hydrating or dewy foundation for a healthy looking complexion. If you’re a little oily, go for a mattifying primer and satin finish base. Use a beauty sponge to pat the product in to minimise skin irritation.
Step 2: Conceal dark circles and undereye bags with a creamy concealer then blend it in with a sponge.
Step 3: Using a contour powder, start by defining the perimeters of the face: under the cheekbones, jawline, temples and along the hairline. With that same powder, apply it on the creases of the eyes as a wash of colour.
Step 4: Double up your highlighter as an eyeshadow by applying it on the centre of the eyes for a pop of shimmer.
Step 5: Finish off the eyes by drawing a thin precise line on the top lashes and apply a few coats of mascara. You can also opt for falsies for a dramatic effect.
Step 7: Complete the look with a vampy shade and you’re good to go!
