FEMALE Beauty Faves: Of Black Eyeliner and Red Lipsticks At Marc Jacobs’ Fall/ Winter 2020 Show

It was only a couple months ago when our Instagram feed was filled with runway images of up and coming fashion styles, and now, bespoke fashion brands are back again with their Fall/ Winter 2020 collections!

Last season, Marc Jacobs sent 60 models down the runway dressed in its Spring 2020 collection that was full of nostalgic references – from the fashion designs to beauty looks – but this time, the show took a different turn to showcase beautiful chaos of funsies vibe. On the runway for New York Fashion Week, black eyeliner and red lips were truly the names of the game with no two models wearing the same look. Every model that walked down the stage had a unique look ranging from winged eyeliner to bold red lipstick to healthy glow.

Of course, the mastermind behind such stunning looks was no other than renowned British makeup artist Pat McGrath.

“It’s a modern take on beauty and an exploration of individuality. There is an individual look for each model – from a light smoky eye to strong winged liner and red lips, and all the way to fresh and dewy, no-makeup looks. But even the strongest look with a black eye pencil and red lipstick is timeless. You think of all time periods – past, present and future – and that makes beauty what it is today,” explains Pat.

Simple and elegant, each beauty look was created using Marc Jacobs Beauty’s cult favourite products, including the Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Creme Moisturizer which makeup artist Nam Vo once revealed to us is her secret to achieving her signature “dewy dumpling” glow. The brand’s Accomplice Concealer and Touch-Up Stick and Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter are also the star products in creating the fresh no-makeup looks.

For the deep and intense eye looks, Pat used Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blacquer and Gel Liner, before amplifying on the intensity with the Eye-Conic Multi Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Glambition in shade Glamour and Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.

As for the lips, Pat achieved the bold looks with Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in shades Oh Miley, Goddess and Miss Scarlet, while the subtle, natural makeup looks were done using Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Moonglow and Skin Deep, as well as the Poutliner Lip Liner Pencil in Cream & Sugar.
