The Spring/ Summer 2020 runways may have gone by a couple of months ago but the beauty highlights of those events are paving the way to new beauty trends. Taking a look back at the runway reports, there was no holding back from the finest designers and backstage professionals as they sent a plethora of double-take inducing beauty looks onto the stage. And of course, there’s no better time to start recreating those stunning looks than the start of 2020!
Channelling strong 70’s and 90’s vibes across the looks, models catwalking down the runway for House of Holland SS20 collection ‘Dance the Pain Away’ left a strong impression for their luxe yet nonchalant looks that encompass everything in between wet-look to high-shine.
Created by ghd global ambassador Adam Reed, the attitude and texture of the hair looks were centred around playful hair with a narrow silhouette. To get the look, begin by defining a strong and clean centre parting using the ghd detangling comb. Set the parting by creating a smooth finish on both sides using the ghd platinum+ styler.
Instead of leaving the hair silky straight, add some texture to it and create a ‘relux’ finish by taking random lengths of hair and lightly tong with the ghd curve soft curl tong. Let the ends fall loosely and un-uniformed for a more natural finish.
For the makeup, we spotted lots of shimmering colours and sparkling shine that are not only easy to recreate but also guarantee to make heads turn as you enter into the party venue. This cotton candy-coloured eye makeup is one that we couldn’t stop swooning over, thanks to its feminine yet bold impression.
Keep your brows in its natural state by simply combing them neatly or you can lightly fill them it with a brow pencil if you have scarce brows. Then, starting from the middle section of your eyelid, slowly build up the bright purple eye shadow all over the lid until your crease line and blend the edges with a soft blending brush to prevent any harsh lines. Fill in the gap between the purple eye shadow and eyebrow with a hot pink eye shadow, extending the colour up to the corner of your eyebrow for a subtle contour effect for the nose.
The trick to making face glitter stay all day is to sweep a thin layer of Vaseline on the area you want to apply the glitters! Using a flat brush or concealer brush, sweep the Vaseline on top of your makeup slowly and gently to avoid ruining the blended colours and dab the glitters on with a clean flat brush. Lastly, create the illusion of a high cheekbone by contouring from the tip of your sideburn down to the point where the corner of your eye lies.
