Our June fitness issue changed my life, and I want all of you to know about it.
Okay everyone flip to page 269 to our ‘Get Your Fit On’ focus feature. As you all know, I had the opportunity to try out a functional training fitness centre, Fuel Athletics, FOR A MONTH. Yes a month of “intense” workouts of 3 to 4 times a week and guess what? I’m hooked.
Let me tell you why and I hope that one of you will love it too. Before Fuel, I was spoiled – I needed someone to work out with me for motivation. Thanks to my best buddy, Kavita, I got back into the gym groove. I was never overweight, but of course those love handles have got to go! I was enjoying yoga and Muay Thai classes but never really saw a difference. Why? I wasn’t pushing myself enough and still loved my food and cream puffs.
So how did Fuel change my life? I finally found a type of workout that fits my personality. IT’S FAST. Some sessions are only 15 minutes. You will be amazed what your body can achieve in 15 minutes. IT’S A SMALL GROUP SESSION. You workout in a group of 10, you support each other as a team and I think that’s really important to have to lift your spirits up and help you push your limits. Hear everyone’s story; I met a mom who never used to work out but run marathons now. WOW. I met a guy who was once overweight but now is the head coach. WOW. If they can do it, why not me, right?
Slowly but surely YOU WILL notice some difference. Don’t be afraid of weights, ladies, they will not make you bulky (coming from someone who refused to lift weights before) and because I just worked my butt off, I will not bite into that cream puff (maybe only on ‘cheat days’).
The most important things I had to admit to myself was that I was comfortable with the way I look, how much I weighed and I felt that it was too much work to achieve those bodies I’ve been pinning on my motivation board on Pinterest. Raise your hand if you feel the same way… or leave a comment below. I would love to hear your story. I signed up after my one month trial and gained energy, muscles and a great bunch of friends. TRY IT! And make sure to say hi to me if you do!
