To eat or not to eat, it does make a BIG difference.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – yup, we’ve all heard it. And yet how many of us take that phrase a little too lightly, dismissing it and merely having a drink that constitutes ‘breakfast’?
Having a proper meal in the AM does make a difference to your daily activities. We got an expert, Corporate Wellness Manager of Nestlé Malaysia Berhad, Cher Siew Wei, to dish the scientific truths.
1. You’ll be more alert throughout the day
If you’ve heard that breakfast can give you ‘morning food coma’, know that it’s a common myth. Skipping breakfast deprives us of the energy to stay focused. It really just depends on what you eat. Try pairing your breakfast with MILO® to help give you the boost to stay alert at work and concentrate better.
2. You’ll feel less tired
Put simply, your body goes on a fast the entire night and whatever energy reserves that you had from dinnertime would have been used up. That means, it’s time for a refuel. Having breakfast could supply at least 20 per cent of your energy, replenishing your glucose supply aka the body’s energy source.
3. You’ll receive all the important nutrients
Skipping breakfast might result in a lack of fibre and sufficient vitamins and minerals such as iron, calcium, zinc and Vitamin B2 in your body. But if you do eat something in the morning, it can provide a significant proportion of the day’s total nutrient intake.
