The French and Japanese are never strangers when it comes to desserts. Here, we have another fusion of the two, in the form of Taiyaki. The typical Japanese fish-shaped cake stuffed with red-bean paste is replaced with a more buttery, soft pastry. The outer part is caramelised so you get the crunch from the first bite, followed by the softness.
