Autumn is officially here!
If you’ve ever travelled to a four-season country during autumn, chances are you’ve seen many posters of pumpkin spice food and beverages plastered on the cafes’ windows. In fact, pictures of pumpkin spice latte are probably flooding your social media feed now thanks to all your friends who are living overseas. Hyped as one of the must-try beverages, pumpkin spice latte is like a taste of autumn for your taste buds.
We may not have autumn here in Malaysia but it seems that our wish has finally come true as Starbucks Malaysia is officially bringing the season to our country with the launch of its much-anticipated Pumpkin Spice Latte!
The origin of the Pumpkin Spice Latte – fondly known as PSL amongst Starbucks fans worldwide – dates back to 2003, when coffee researchers at Starbucks were exploring ideas for a pumpkin-inspired espresso beverage. They would sample a forkful of pumpkin pie, followed by a sip of hot espresso so that they could test out which flavours from the pie best complemented the coffee.
In case you’re wondering if the PSL here would taste slightly different from the ones you’ve gotten in another country, the recipe for the PSL has remained unchanged for the last 16 years, which makes it the most unique and sought-after beverage every autumn season. The signature espresso and milk from Starbucks are highlighted by traditional autumn flavour notes of real pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove to create the sweet and fruity beverage.
While PSL is usually consumed hot, Malaysians will get to enjoy it either as hot, iced or blended. Not a coffee person? An alternative non-coffee option is also available as a Frappuccino blended beverage!
In conjunction with the upcoming spooky Halloween celebration, Starbucks also introduced its Halloween merchandise collection featuring black cats and pumpkins to add a surprising twist to your Starbucks collection.
The handcrafted Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is available at all stores starting today from RM17.50 onwards while the merchandise is available since 1 October priced from RM32 onwards.
