FEMALE Tries: The World’s First-Ever Beauty Ice Cream From Crème De La Crème

All your beauty needs in a scoop of ice cream!

Having a properly curated skincare routine that suits your skin type and sticking to a clean diet are important to maintaining your skin’s health and radiance. For someone who experienced terrible breakouts, I tend to stay away from sweet treats as I believe the high sugar content is one of the culprits for my acne. But turns out, not all sweet treats are bad for our skin!

Crème de la Crème (CDLC) may have only debuted less than six months ago but this dessert place located in the bustling area of Damansara Uptown has taken sweet treats a step further by introducing the world’s first-ever ‘beauty’ ice cream!

Aptly named Beauty Elixir, this ice cream is a collaborative invention with Dr Steve Chia, Medical Director of Sliq Clinic, and aims to promote healthier, brighter and smoother skin.

The sugar-free sweet treat contains six main ingredients, each chosen for their benefits to the skin.

Glutathione: This antioxidant is clinically proven to be effective, allergy-free and helps to even out skin tone and brighten the skin to give it a desirable afterglow.

Vitamin C: Neutralises free radicals, boosts the immune system and detoxifies the body. It promotes skin lightening by converting melanin to a lighter colour and inhibits the production of the enzyme tyrosinase which produces melanin.

Collagen: Well-known for its ability to prevent ageing, collagen enhances metabolism, connects tissues, improves the elasticity of the skin, reduces wrinkles, and increases smoothness and firmness of the skin. It also restores damaged skin caused by acne and helps improve blemishes, freckles and scars on the skin.

Cherry blossom: Cherry blossom, or Sakura, flower is known for its rich antioxidant levels, anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, whitening and soothing properties. Rich in essential fatty acids, it repairs the skin’s natural barriers to lighten uneven pigmentation, promote suppleness, brightening and smoothness of the skin.

Rosewater: The tradition of oral consumption of rose water for beauty dates back thousands of years for its anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing and antioxidant properties.

Lychee: The fruit is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin B-complex, fibre and phytonutrient flavonoids which are effective in preventing early ageing and offers protection from free radicals and oxidative stress.

We had the chance to try a scoop of the Beauty Elixir and it’s probably one of our go-to desserts now!

“I’m always very particular with what I consume since I’ve very bad acne problems, but that doesn’t mean I’m very good at restricting myself from having some sweet desserts once in a while. The Beauty Elixir has a strong lychee and rosewater flavour which I really enjoyed, and compared to typical ice creams, it has a slight jelly-like texture due to the collagen. Beware if you’re not a sweet tooth because the ice cream still tastes pretty sweet even though it’s sugar-free and suitable for diabetics. On days when I feel like having a small sweet treat, this ice cream is the perfect option since it’s packed with lots of skincare benefits my skin could use!” – Elaine, Digital Writer

Commenting on the inspiration behind Beauty Elixir, Lio Lim, managing director of CDLC shared: “I’m passionate about skincare and of course, ice cream. I thought it’s time to revolutionise both the F&B and beauty industries with a delicious sugar-free dessert that boasts high-grade ingredients known in the beauty industry to promote healthy skin and overall wellbeing. We’re very proud of the fact that “Beauty Elixir”, a guilt-free indulgence made with ingredients of established health properties, is not just a first in Malaysia, but also in the world!”

Would you ever consider having a scoop of this ingenious dessert? We recommend it!
