Just like the bubble tea craze, hot pot restaurants have been topping the chart for the most popular food trends in 2019. From jetting off to our neighbouring country Singapore for a taste of the famous Hai Di Lao and Beauty in The Pot hot pot meal to queuing for hours at their very first outlet in Malaysia, Malaysians are certainly huge fans of this soul-warming meal!
Since its inception at SkyAvenue Genting Highlands in 2018, Beauty in The Pot has been winning over every gourmand’s true needs with its nourishing and exquisite broths. In fact, many people even made the effort to visit the breezy town just to have a meal at the restaurant! Now, the restaurant has made it more accessible for diners to indulge in their delectable menu by opening a second out at The Gardens Mall Kuala Lumpur.
Spanning over 7,000 square feet, the 280-seater outlet is set to open its doors to the public on November 8 and boasts a pink princess theme for its exterior and interior design (which we are really in love with!) inspired by the beautiful spring cherry blossoms. This is also coupled with the restaurant’s flooring featuring white marble stippled with pink quartz to symbolise the beautiful falls of cherry blossoms on a snow-clad land.
Apart from the stunningly beautiful decor that teleports diners into a pink paradise, the restaurant also has a playground for children with CCTV installed within the compound so that parents can monitor their kids with just a scan of a QR Code to access the footage while they’re enjoying their meals.
Well-known for its beauty collagen broth (scallop and pork bone soup), this is a dish not to be missed whenever you dine in at Beauty in The Pot. More than six hours of hard work goes into making this dense and collagen-rich soup which we all agreed was one of our favourites! Besides the signature beauty broth, the new outlet offers five other soup bases: spicy nourishing soup (ma la), herbal drunken chicken broth, cooling coconut broth, wild mushroom broth (vegetarian) and tomato sweet corn broth.
A wide variety of fresh ingredients ranging from meat and seafood to vegetables and noodles are also specially selected to match seamlessly with the soups. And to go with the delectable food, there are more than 20 condiments and sauces available for diners to mix and match to create their own unique dipping sauce.
For our review, we chose four different types of broth: spicy nourishing soup, herbal drunken chicken broth, beauty collagen broth and tomato sweet corn broth. Each soup stood out with its own unique flavour: the mala soup had a strong kick to the taste buds that whets the appetite without being too spicy; the herbal drunken chicken soup was a soul-warming bowl of invigorating goodness; the tomato sweet corn was amazingly flavourful and rich; the beauty collagen was both refreshing and dense. Some of our must-try ingredients are the ebiko prawn paste, fried beancurd skin, prawn dumpling, spicy sliced pork, tender sliced Australian beef and live drunken tiger prawns.
Prices start from RM27.90 for a single pot and RM8.90 each for a quarter pot, but fret not if you’re currently on a tight budget! The restaurant will be running a series of promotions in conjunction with its grand opening: female diners are entitled to discounts of up to 50 per cent on all food ingredients from November 25 to 29. Diners will get to enjoy 10% discount if there’s a female diner with them, 20% discount for two diners and so on. If there are five or more female diners, you’ll get a maximum of 50% discount!
In line with their concept of looking beautiful inside out, there’ll be makeup sessions available between November 29 to December 1 and December 7 and 8 while you wait for your turn to dine. The restaurant will also have a goodie bag giveaway to random diners which includes a popsicle soap, dining vouchers, unicorn pen and bird’s nest running from December 2 to 6. Looks like it’s time to gather our girlfriends out for a hot pot feast!
