BENTONG – 1 HOUR, 65KM
You’ll be surprised at how much food there is to buy and eat in this Pahang town. First off on the itinerary: shopping at the Bentong Market (Pasar Besar Bentong). They’re famous for three things: Bentong ginger (it has a stronger taste), Bentong-branded beancurd (there’s a mark on it) and Mokie Home-Baked Pastry‘s pineapple puffs. PUFFS.
*For more treats, go to the Sunday morning market.
Batu 2, Jalan Tras, 28700 Bentong, Pahang
If you want to look further (than KL) for delicious lemang and rendang, this is the place! It’s one of the most famous lemang stalls around, where even the Pahang royal family has supposedly visited before.
*Opens from 7AM till 7PM, except on Mondays.
Kedai Kopi Kow Pow
2 Bentong Heights, 28700 Bentong, Pahang
Well-known to the locals for many generations (it has been around for three decades!), be sure you don’t leave town without trying Kow Pow’s homemade ice cream or ABCs (which also comes topped with a scoop of ice cream)! Oh-so-refreshing for a hot day.
*Opens from 10AM till 7PM, excepts Mondays.
