If you love a juxtaposition of Japanese styles and Western high street fashion, “Tricia Will Go Places” is your destination!
In line with our FASHION issue for September, we decided to have a little Q&A with some of our favourite international fashion bloggers from around the world and first up is Tricia G!
With over 77,000 Facebook likes, more than 65,000 Lookbook.nu fans and a whopping 139,000-ish Instagram followers, Tricia Gosingtian from the Philippines is definitely not your average fashionista.
Besides blogging about the latest trends and documenting her looks with style tips onblog.triciagosingtian.com, the 24-year old also does photography for magazines – that explains all the gorgeous outfit photos she posts! Here’s our little tête-à-tête with this style maestro.
f: What’s a fashion trend that you’ve spotted and loved from Autumn/Winter 2013?
Tricia Gosingtian (T): I love all the ’90s elements reworked into something more modern and wearable. My favourites so far would have to be the emergence of jumpers/overalls/suspender skirts, as well as the plaid shirt tied around the waist trend that never makes me feel nostalgic.
f: How would you channel it?
T: I am partial to simple styles that make use of contrasting elements. Pairing masculine and feminine elements together will always make for an interesting combination. I’d wear the plaid shirt waist tie trend with dressier heels instead of stumpy boots, and wear the jumper skirts with a flat brimmed cap and sneakers.
f: Okay, how about brands? Do you have a favourite brand/shop/designer?
T: I’m obsessed with Japanese brands that take a lot from Western high street and blogger trends! There’s EMODA, SLY, moussy, etc. And of course, there are the usuals like Mango, Zara, Topshop, etc.
f: BEST shopping city you’ve been would be __________?
T: A tie between Tokyo and Seoul!
f: What would you NEVER be caught wearing?
T: Anything that’s trendy but doesn’t suit my body type and personal style. I don’t really force myself to follow all trends, and usually just gravitate towards the ones that will work with the rest of my existing wardrobe.
f: Three fashion must-have pieces every woman should have in her wardrobe?
T: Classic black pumps, black skinny pants and a little black dress.
f: Last thing you bought?
T: These Le Bunny Bleu oxfords!
f: Would you rather be stuck in Sharknado or The Hunger Games?
T: Sharknado, because I don’t want to go against other humans! Humans make the scariest opponents sometimes.
f: Who would you rather have an argument with (because they’re both pretty tough ‘debaters’): Sheldon Cooper or Johnny Bravo?
