You may know her as Chriselle Lim, the stylish girlboss behind the fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog The Chriselle Factor that was established eight years ago. But did you know that she wasn’t always the fashion star that you see today? Being Korean-American and as one of the few Asian girls in high school, Chriselle had always felt very different growing up. Feeling like she couldn’t fit in with the other kids, she turned to fashion as a way to feel strong and confident, and made a point to dress well all the time so that people would compliment her on her outfits.
Fun fact: Chriselle was even named best-dressed in high school!
So how did Chriselle evolve from an insecure teenager to one off the most prominent faces in fashion today? After discovering the confidence-boosting powers it holds, she went to college to study merchandise marketing with the initial aim of becoming a buyer, and later on settled on visual merchandising after realising that putting looks together and evoking a mood was more in her area of expertise.
This led her to a career in fashion styling with a stint as a Hollywood stylist’s assistant. And throughout her styling career, she discovered the potential of social media and kick-started her own blog and YouTube channel, catapulting her to style-star status today.
