Give Your Old Clothes New Life With GUESS’ Sustainability Plan

GUESS wants you to extend the life of your clothing.

What do you do with a old pair of jeans (or any piece of clothing, really) that no longer fits or has gone out of style? Dump it or donate it? How about recycling?

GUESS’ recycling program, RESOURCED initially launched in California last year to much success, and is now coming to Malaysia as well! With this program, GUESS hopes to extend the life of old clothing and shoes and reduce textile waste.

Locally, GUESS will partner with Kloth Cares –  a social movement for textile recycling in Malaysia operating on the theme “Keeping Fabrics Out of the Landfills”- to launch a wardrobe recycling program beginning Friday, March 1st, 2019 to Tuesday, April 30th, 2019.

The partnership aims to reduce textile waste through Kloth Cares’ innovative retail take-back system and worldwide infrastructure, wearable items get a new life as secondhand goods!

“Kloth Cares is committed to promote, walk the talk to crystallize textile recycling in Malaysia with GUESS Sustainability,” says Nik Suzila, co-founder of Kloth Malaysia. “We believe that keeping textile waste out of the landfills and giving it a new life is crucial as Malaysian landfills are bloated with waste that can give higher value, if given a chance to be upcycled.”

“GUESS has joined a global industry pledge to promote a circular fashion system – the idea that fashion should last, and be continuously repurposed, reused and recycled,” says Victor Herrero, Chief Executive Officer of GUESS?, Inc. “Partnering with Kloth Cares helps us achieve our goals and work on these initiatives to adapt our company and engage our employees, customers, and community on developing a more sustainable fashion industry.”

How to participate:

Recycle bins will be placed at 8 GUESS stores* in Klang Valley by March for customers and the public to recycle their unwanted clothing. The first batch of these clothing will be sent to Raffles Design College for the final year students to reuse, recycle, and remake it into new fashion pieces. The TOP 10 ready-to-wear pieces which were given a new life by students will be showcased.

*Participating GUESS stores: GUESS Pavilion, KLCC, The Gardens Mall, 1Utama, Sunway Pyramid, IOI City Mall, Setia City Mall, AEON Bukit Tinggi. For more information on GUESS Sustainability, please visit
