Big Eyes

Let’s start with the easiest “costume” of them all. Inspired by the movie Big Eyes, which is based on a true story, the film revolves around the artist, Margaret (played by Amy Adams). All you need for her character is a pair of mom jeans and a cropped sleeveless shirt – don’t forget to curl your locks, and bring a paint brush as you go! You can even get creative by painting your face like her ‘Big eyes’ paintings.

Gone Girl

Go a little dark by channeling Amy (Rosamund Pike) in her psychotic wife role in Gone Girl. Try playing around with fake blood to recreate her iconic scene with a trendy slip dress! If you’re afraid to ruin your dress, simply go thrift shopping for a cheaper alternative. Or else, you can go for her other look in the movie with a Peter Pan-collared fit-and-flare dress.

This is one of the most inspiring yet witty movies out there – dating back to the ’60s in the United States during the Civil Rights movement. During that era, women were dressed in outfits that accentuate the female figure – boat necklines and flared midi skirts were all in trend! If you’re not planning to go dark and scary for Halloween, this is the one for you. Pair your floral midi dresses with a cardigan and a notebook in hand, and you are ready to play the role as Skeeter (Emma Stone). One in ditsy floral patterns is a plus!

Devil Wears Prada

Who doesn’t love The Devil Wears Prada? (PS: Can you believe that this movie was released exactly 10 years ago?!) We fell in love with Anne Hathaway since her Princess Diaries days, but we fell in love with her more in this movie. Her character, Andre, wore a lot of classy and stylish coats after she found her groove as Miranda Priestly’s assistant – all you need are a long coat (a lightweight version will be great for our humid weather!), a beret and a pair of sunglasses to complete her look!
