1. Sandra Oh’s Tribute Speech
At the end of the opening presentation by hosts Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, Sandra paid tribute to the “faces of change” in a moving speech, referencing what a year it has been for diversity and representation in the entertainment industry. After all, 2018 was the year that gave us the #timesup movement, Crazy Rich Asians, Black Panther, and the amazing 2018 Golden Globes.

If I could take a moment here: In all honesty, I said yes to the fear of being on this stage tonight because I wanted to be here to look out into this audience and witness this moment of change.
And I’m not fooling myself. I’m not fooling myself. Next year could be different. It probably will be.
But right now, this moment is real. Trust me, it is real. Because I see you. And I see you. All of these faces of change. And now so will everyone else.
– Sandra Oh
Sandra also went on to take the Best Actress Performance in a TV Drama for her magnificent work in Killing Eve– and thanked her parents in Korean in her acceptance speech before bowing to them. (I’m not crying, you’re crying!)
