What’s Skincare Pilling? Here’s Why You Always Find Globs On Your Skin

1. Your skincare ingredients are not penetrable

Take a look at the ingredient list of your skincare product. Does it contain silicone? There are several culprits that make pilling more likely, and silicone is the main one. This is because they’re designed to stay on the top of the skin to smooth the surface instead of being absorbed. Since it doesn’t sink in, any products that you apply on top of silicone-based products will remain on the surface. Other ingredients to watch out for include iron oxide, talc, mica and seed gum.

If you spot any of these ingredients in your products, make sure you’re using them as the last step of your skincare like they’re designed to.
