Makeup Monday: Girlie Boxer Braids

Here’s how you can look sweet and badass at the same time!

I still remember being so in awe of this hairstyle after seeing celebs like Rita Ora and Chiara Ferragni pull them off effortlessly. Since then, I’ve made it my goal to recreate the look whenever I work out (since it is a sporty look after all). That said, not only have I not been to the gym since making that self-promise, I’ve also constantly came up with excuses (like how I’m not cool enough or how my face shape won’t match this hairstyle etc) to avoid having to put in effort.

But hey, a promise is a promise and in honour of todays Makeup Monday challenge, I will finally give the boxer braid a try – however, it’ll be done with a girlie twist. Perfect for all you ladies who don’t want to come of as ‘too cool’.

Step 1: Create a centre-parting for your hair.

Step 2: Start by doing a twisted braid from the top of your head.

Step 3: Once you’ve reached the nape of your neck, switch to a regular french braid.

Note: If you have shorter hair, then opt for a dutch braid from the very beginning all the way to the end.

Step 4: Leave about 8cm of hair left and secure the rest with a tiny hairband.

Step 5: Repeat the same for the other side.

TIP: For a sexy touch, pull the loops of your braid to loosen them up in order to achieve an effortless messy look. Alternately, you can do what Rita Ora did with her boxer braids and add pearl pins to give yourself a sweeter look.
