Freckles were once something many women tried to cover up, but who would’ve thought it’ll be so coveted in today’s beauty scene?
As the season transitions from winter to spring, natural no-makeup looks are set to go trendy again. But it’s not just dewy skin and subtly highlighted cheeks that give you a youthful, natural glow — freckles work wonders too!
They can instantly make your complexion look fresher and create an illusion that you have gorgeous, perfect skin as though you’re not wearing any makeup at all.
With the pigmented spots being known as a popular beauty look, it’s great news for naturally speckled women, but don’t worry if you’re not born with freckles. With some simple makeup products and techniques, Youtuber Jessica Vu shares how she achieves a natural freckles look perfect for springtime.
Starting with her brows, Jessica uses Benefit Cosmetic’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil to fill them in with light strokes. For a natural finish, she makes sure to brush through her brows multiple times to get that soft brow look. With a highlighting pencil, she cleans the perimeter of her brows for a more defined edge and sets them with an eyebrow gel to create a fuller look.
To achieve the “no makeup” look, she recommends skipping on foundation after priming your face or opting for a tinted moisturiser or primer. If you’re worried about the hyperpigmentation and blemishes on your skin, Jessica conceals them with a concealer, followed by a lighter-coloured concealer to highlight the areas she wants to be more prominent.
By using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, she dots the product lightly around her cheeks and nose area to create the freckles. The key to making them look as natural as possible is to blend them out with a brush and go over them again. Natural freckles come in different shades and sizes as well so it’s important to make sure all the dots are not uniform.
Lastly, she lines her lips with a natural shade of lip liner and blurs out the edges with a highlighting pencil. For a pop of colour on your lips, you can also apply some lipstick on the centre of your lips and blend it out with your finger to create a soft, subtle look.
