Female Tries: I Gave My Skin a ‘Drunk Break’ With Drunk Elephant

Fashion & Beauty Editor, Sarah gives her skin a break with American beauty brand, Drunk Elephant this MCO period.

Before I start my review, allow me to rewind a couple of weeks back to just before the MCO started to tell you what my skin condition was like then. Due to imbalanced lifestyle habits – I was eating fast food and drinking bubble tea on the daily, sleeping late and waking up too early on work days and generally, just rushing through life – my skin was taking up most of the beating by breaking out, becoming dull and dry with white patches showing up. I tried doing quick fixes such as using hydrating masks a few times a week but somehow my skin just wasn’t looking its best.

So on 17 March, a day before the MCO took place, I was sent the Drunk Elephant press kit, which I luckily took home to try for what I initially thought was going to be a quarantine period of 14 days. It then got extended to the 14 April as we all know and are experiencing right now. Because of that, I truly had the time to test out Drunk Elephant’s products. I had been intrigued when the brand was buzzing two years ago but never had the opportunity to try it out and after my interview with its founder, Tiffany Masterson (you can check out the full interview in our print April 2020 issue), who explained her concept for the brand which focuses on ingredients that are biocompatible for the skin, I was eager to test it out. It’s been 17 days now since I’ve taken the ‘Drunk Break’ (given my skin a reset) and there’s been a noticeable difference in my skin. However, please keep in mind that I have not been wearing makeup, been getting a full eight hours of sleep, and eating nutritious home-cooked food, all of which would have contributed to the well-being of my skin. Having said that, read on for my favourites!
