If you haven’t heard of Johanis Sani, then you’re missing out! This triple threat is the very definition of multi-talented – she sings, vlogs and does makeup like a pro!
21 year-old Johanis Sani is no stranger to the new media scene– you’ve probably seen her gorgeous Instagram feed or her hilarious YouTube challenges. Either way, this beauty has achieved social media star status. This month, she opens up to us about fame, family, her beauty routine, and which dream guest she’d like to have on her channel.
FEMALE: If you could make a video with any YouTuber or celebrity, who would it be and why?
Johanis: “I idolize Ariana Grande and even my YouTube video intro and outro is Be Alright! A video with her would definitely be a dream come true cos she has impeccable style and seems incredibly down to earth. She’s been through a lot, which makes her an inspiration to me. But, I can’t promise I wouldn’t cry throughout the video!”
F: Vlogging can be a difficult to master; do you have any advice on angles, lighting or cinematography?
J: “I do a lot of travel vlogs, which means my equipments tend to be limited so I often opt for natural sunlight. Get a camera with a built-in stabiliser, which helps if you’re filming while walking. Don’t let your environment stop you from producing content that you love. Just go all out! #YOLO”
F: Fame can sometimes get to one’s head. What or who keeps you grounded?
J: “My mom is my rock. She reminds me to stay humble and be thankful for what I have now. It’s important to always remember your roots and where you came from. I’m currently studying at KDU University College and that normalcy makes me feel just like everyone else.”
2017 has been one of the toughest and when I was at my lowest, I did not expect to even be able to achieve this plaque. Thank you to those who stood by my side, brought me out from the dark and helped me to become the person I am today. I love you. I did it, mom. (New video up on my channel! Link in my bio) ?
F: There are a few challenge videos on your channel. Tell us why you love filming them.
J: “Challenge videos are not scripted and you usually just go with the flow. With that being said, I feel that people prefer when I’m funny and I’m most natural in an impromptu setting.”
F: If you only had 10 minutes to do your makeup for an event, what makeup look would you do?
J: “I’d probably skip foundation altogether and go straight in with concealer. I’d add glitter onto my lids to distract people from staring at my face. Then, I’d pop on some lashes cos it makes a huge difference, trust me! Finally, a touch of highlighter on my cheekbones and a swipe of pinky-nude lipstick and I’m out the door!”
F: What is a must-have fashion item when you travel?
J: “I don’t travel with anything specific but as of late funky sunglasses are always in my luggage. Maybe it’s because I like to switch up my style from day to day.”
