One of the Taiwanese beauty brands we told you to look out for is DR.WU, and that recommendation has not disappointed!
Here’s a primer: DR.WU is a leading medical skincare brand in Taiwan was founded by dermatologist Dr. Ying-Chin Wu in 2003. With 40 years clinic experience and dermatological research, the focus of the brand is to create a technologically-advanced line of effective skincare for sensitive skin.
Keeping in line with this, they’ve created a new product that’s just as exciting: the Intensive Repairing Serum with Squalane, a super-light essence oil that blends 3 precious oils – argan, macadamia seed and jojoba – with squalane to moisturise, restore the skin barrier, and repair the skin.
Wait, What’s Squalane?
Squalane is a hydrogenated version of squalene, an oily compound produced naturally by our sebaceous glands. Being something our skin makes itself, squalene is a fantastic moisturiser that doesn’t irritate the skin. The only problem is that the only other place to get squalene, besides our own skin, is the livers of sharks.
Thankfully, there’s a vegetarian alternative: squalane. Instead of harvesting it from sharks, squalane can be obtained from plant sources like olive oil, rice, and sugar cane.
DR. WU’s Intensive Repairing Serum with Squalane uses ECOCERT Natural Certified Squalane extracted from olives in the south of France. The olives are hand-picked and sent through 25 rounds of cold-press processing, resulting in a finer, purer oil with a lighter texture that penetrates the skin quickly without clogging.
Multiple Ways To Use It
According to Dr Wu himself, “oil is the key to maintaining young skin”! With its uniquely light texture, you’ll want to use this oil-serum everywhere, and you’ll be pleased to know that you can!
1. With skincare: Add a drop into your existing serums or moisturisers to enhance their moisturising and repair effect.
2. With makeup: Add a drop into your liquid foundation for an easy and smooth application, added radiance and longer lasting
3. On its own: Simply use it on its own in the serum step of your skincare routine. You can also use it anywhere that needs a boost of moisture: your hair, dry skin, even your cuticles or any rough patches.
