We’re always in awe with the stunningly beautiful outfits donned by Victoria’s Secret’s Angels and creative sets of every runway show. However, we also can’t stop marvelling at their thick locks and alluring hair waves.
The models are often seen rocking angel-worthy gorgeous waves that are seemingly tousled yet sexy. But before you decide that the glamorous hair-do is only achievable with the help of a professional, hair stylist Ruslan Nureev proves that you too can achieve the perfect waves at home.
Having styled Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd’s hair for numerous events, Ruslan teamed up with Romee in a Youtube tutorial to show us how to create the iconic Victoria’s Secret curls that’s simply easy to follow.
It’s always important to make sure your hair is well prepped before beginning any styling so that your strands are at their best shape. To achieve the desired hair texture needed before curling, Ruslan sprays Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray all over the hair in sections from front to back.
After splitting the hair into several parts, Ruslan takes a section of the hair and curl it inwards with a 1.25-inch curling iron before securing it with a 1.5-inch Velcro roller. He creates a Mohawk-style with four rollers on the top and two on each side.
For the remaining parts of the hair at the back, Ruslan splits them up into left and right and uses three rollers for each side. Then, he leaves the rollers in for five to 15 minutes.
Brush the hair out after removing the rollers and you’ll have an ‘80s-inspired big wavy curls that look absolutely gorgeous and volumised. However, the Victoria’s Secret bombshell hair look is still not complete as it requires more curling.
To prevent flat roots while you work on the curls, Ruslan suggests flipping the hair to the other side of your preferred parting so the hair doesn’t settle down quickly and loses its volume.
To achieve the bouncy look, it’s important to curl sections of the hair in alternate directions. For the sections around the face, Ruslan prefers to curl them inwards for a softer look. Once done, he sets the hair with Oribe Dry Texturising Spray that gives off an effortless, textured look. For the final step, Romee whips her hair back and forth to create the tousled effect!
