It’s time to catch up on all those things you’ve put on hold for the longest time! We show you how an easy date night look can be done in five minutes.
If you’re a working mum, you’d realise that working from home has its equal share of pros and cons. On the bright side, the time you waste in traffic on a normal day can be used to do other important things. Our Fashion and Beauty Editor, Sarah Hani Jamil shares a new look that she tried out to spend some QT with her husband at home. “The last time we went out on a date was ages ago. So when I was asked to work from home, I scheduled my to-do list wisely and decided to surprise my hubby by putting on some makeup and lighting some scented tealight candles to create a cosy atmosphere.
As makeup artist, Bobbi Brown once said, “If I had to teach someone just one thing about lip colour, it would be this: find a lipstick that looks good on your face when you are wearing absolutely no makeup.” And yes, I decided to take my favourite lip colours out to play! I opted for a two-tone lip punch look and picked out these favourites to help me achieve my dream puckers:
- Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm
- Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick
- L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain 464 Prepared

I started off by applying a thin layer of balm as the base before rubbing my lips together. The one thing I like most about this lip balm is that its texture is extremely light and ideal for this situation because in the back of my mind, I knew I’d be spending time with my hubs at home. Most importantly was that I felt comfortable with the choice of lip balm I picked out. Then, using a lip brush (that I had time to clean this morning), I started to fill the upper part of my lip using Fenty Beauty’s Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick. Hubs never fails to compliment me when my pout is red and that’s why I decided to go with this colour!
As for my lower lip, I went for a pinkish shade because using the same colour on the top and bottom is a little too boring for a beauty junkie like me. While the L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain 464 Prepared comes under the matte category, it has more of a gloss finishing that I love. Not to mention, the bottom of my lips are extremely chapped because of the increasingly humid weather we’re going through. And just like that, I was done in five minutes! To complete the look, I applied some pinkish-red eyeshadow for added radiance. I must say that my hubs was extremely surprised with the look that I created when I walked out of the room looking a little ‘extra done up’ to spend some time together.”
