Of contemporary elegance and shiny statements, Chanel’s Métiers D’art 2019/20 show was a sparkling affair that sent emotions high with the slender silhouettes and daring twists to some of the house’s iconic designs. The Grand Palais in Paris was transformed into Coco Chanel’s mythical mirrored art deco apartment of 31 Rue Cambon to present the collection, creating a timeless space for the whole occasion.
While glittery accents on the collection’s pieces flooded the runway during the show, many models catwalked down the stage in washes of silver and glossy makeup that equally shone under the limelight. Created by the brand’s global creative makeup and colour designer, Lucia Pica, the silver eyelid look was a simple yet loud design that we couldn’t stop admiring.
Using the brand’s Les 4 Ombres 334 Modern Glamour, Lucia went into the inner corners of the eyes and underneath in a straight, strong line focused just in the inner part of the eye with the silver shade to create a cool minimal ‘90’s vibe.
For a more sophisticated and feminine look, the makeup artist focused on creating perfectly-shaped glossy burgundy lips that truly roared power. To achieve this result, Lucia defined the lips with Le Crayon Lèvres 188 Brun Carmin and applied Rouge Allure Velvet Extrême 130 Rouge Obscur directly on the lips straight from the bullet. The glossy finish from Chanel’s Rouge Coco Gloss 772 Epique was then added on top to deepen and intensify the colour.
TIP: To have a strong defined glossy lip with a solid colour, layer the lip pencil all over the mouth, a strongly pigmented lipstick and a high shine gloss. – Lucia Pica
Of course, no look is ever complete without a touch of sleek tone on the eyelids to match the glossy lips. For this, Lucia applied a touch of Baume Essentiel Transparent for a glistening finish that adds freshness to the look and highlights naturally. She then completed the whole look with the Le Volume Révolution De Chanel mascara 10 Noir on the top lashes only.
