In a time of elaborate multi-step skincare routines, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. To be honest, what makes these kinds of routines so intimidatingly large is the sheer number of products used and that each product is counted as one step. Instead of listing out each product, I find it easier to categorise my routine into maneagable chunks: cleansing, exfoliation, spot treatment, and moisturisation.
And of all my chunks, the one that I believe has the most effect on maintaining my good skin is this one: the exfoliation step. Like many others, I’ve found that exfoliation – keeping my skin free of dead skin cells, makeup, excess oil and such – pretty much ensures that my skin doesn’t develop any any clogs or blemishes, while also allowing my other skincare steps to work better.
So what sort of exfoliators should you be using? I’m a fan of chemical exfoliation with liquid acids which get rid of dead skin and impurities while also accelerating skin cell turnover for seriously glowy clear skin, without the risk of overly aggravating your skin with physical exfoliators. Here are my top picks!
