2. You need to start slow

The general rule with introducing retinols to your skincare routine is to start slow. Instead of overwhelming your skin with retinol, introduce it into your routine gradually. Start by using it once to two times a week, then every other day, then daily when there are no adverse effects.

With the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum however, there was no burning, peeling, or flaking, even from the first time I used it, so I managed to increase the frequency of use pretty fast. I also liked that the serum is formulated to slip seamlessly into your existing skincare routine– there’s no wait times or pH adjusting required like with other actives and acids. And whether it’s a pure serum or mixed in with other products like moisturiser, retinol will work.
