1. Limit exposure to hot water
Whether you’re treating yourself to a hot bath during winter or doing some washing with hot water, always keep in mind to not crank up the water temperature higher than necessary. This can cause moisture to be leached out of your skin as hot water is the most effective at stripping natural oils from your hands, resulting in dry and cracked skin. During cold seasons, your hands may not be receptive to the temperature of water instantly and by hastily switching up to a higher temperature, the hot water can damage the lipid barrier of your skin and dilate the blood vessels below the surface, exacerbating fluid loss.
