Team FEMALE Reveals The Best Sleep They’ve Ever Had

Happy World Sleep Day, ladies! We hope that tonight we’ll all get to sleep like babies.

When was the last you had a solid 8-hour sleep without any disturbance? Nope, not the ones where you wake up a few times in the middle of the night or just snooze for a few hours yet feel extremely energetic the next morning.

In an article published on The Guardian, Dr Lydia DonCarlos from Loyola University, Chicago, states that while a child needs 9 to 11 hours of sleep, those between the ages of 18 and 64 need 7 to 9 hours of sleep to be able to be productive the next day.

The lack of sleep often leads to health-related problems that can affect your daily productivity. Take some time off, treat yourself to a massage or do whatever it takes for you to relax so that your body can fall asleep easily. Here are some of the best sleeps we’ve had, which we are crossing our fingers to get tonight:

“It has to be every time I’m on holiday. Actually, come to think of it, I think it’s the hotel room vibe. No disturbance from my pets, it’s pitch-dark and there’s the smell of the sheets and pillows and comfy bed. The best hotel so far is the Four Seasons Resort, Langkawi.” Seema Viswanathan, Editor-In-Chief

“The best sleep I’ve ever had was on an island in Maldives. After a huge, satisfying dinner, I was lazing on the deck chair with a star-lit pool behind me and the beach in front of me. Thanks to the sound of waves crashing onto the shore, the most beautiful star-filled filled sky and gentle sea breeze, I fell asleep immediately… it was definitely HEAVENNN on earth.” Yang Mei Ling, Editor

“My best sleep was after I got a romantic massage from my partner. Let’s just say that I slept like baby after that.” Fairuz Nadia, Fashion Writer

“The best sleep I’ve had was in a ryokan – a traditional Japanese inn in Kyoto. After drinking some sake at dinner and having a long soak in the hot tub, I snuggled into the fluffy sheets of a freshly-laid futon and it was the most pleasurable experience of my life.” Ng Yi-Di, Senior Web Writer

“It had to be the past few days when I had amazing sex the night before.” Gan Yew Chin , Associate Art Director

“The past 11 days in Japan were simply amazing. I slept off knowing that I’d be able to wake up to a new adventure instead of working the next day. *wink* Can’t help but admit that work = *pandaeyesinthemaking.” Alya Zulkernai, Editorial Assistant

“I usually take a long time to fall asleep but when I’m on holiday, I never fail to hit the sack the moment my head touches the pillow. Bottom line: I NEED TO GO ON MORE VACAYS!” Tammy Chan, Editorial Assistant

“It was the last day in uni, after I had sat for three exams back to back AND submitted a research paper – all in three days! I survived on only half an hour of sleep each day, after which, I slept for 18 amazing, uninterrupted hours straight.” Arielle Yen, Editorial Assistant
