Wands at the ready! Potterheads you’re in for a treat as there’s now a Harry Potter-themed cafe, the first in Malaysia. Hedwig Books & Cafe is not just a cafe per say but a place where bookworms can come an enjoy a read or two in this book cafe decked out in Potteresque decor.
The cafe belongs to Raiha, a book-addict and a mother of two, who always dreamed of opening up her own cafe. She didn’t want her cafe to be just about the food and drinks, and with a library-esque book-centered concept, she hopes to encourage people to read more.
She’s got books from a wide range of genre from sci-fi and adventure, romance and mystery, as well as cookbooks. Obviously, the Harry Potter series is available as well and she was two versions (cos one is not enough when you’re a Potterhead) one in English and the other in Bahasa Melayu.
You can also expect the cafe to provide robes, mufflers, wands, and glasses so customers both adult and kids can realise their dream of entering the wizarding world, well for the ‘gram at least.
The food and drinks, on the other hand, are not really as exciting as they currently serve regular Muggle brewed coffees and other non-caffeinated beverages as well desserts like pavlova, creme brulee, pie, and cupcakes topped with a witch’s hat (cute!).
But excuse me, where’s the butterbeer, Bertie Bott’s every flavour beans, chocolate frogs, Cauldron cakes, or Harry’s birthday cake? Well, Raiha explained in an interview with Vulcanpost.com, that she’s looking into it and is already experimenting with creating the famous Hogsmeade Butterbeer.
Okay, you’re probably already asking the ‘where’ question, be surprised cos it’s located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. It’s quite far – okay it is far from the Klang Valley area but Raiha that since opening the cafe last Saturday, she received an overwhelming response to open a branch here in KL. She heard you and she’s putting it on her to do list!
