Take a five-minute walk from the Jongno-5 ga train station and you’ll see alleys filled with hip cafés, comfortably cramped in the old neighbourhood of Ikseon-dong.

Amongst the many shops and cafés, I chanced upon Proust, a scent house and tea shop combined in one tiny space. Proust Tea House is inspired by the French author, Marcel Proust, known for his novel In Search Of Lost Time.

The set up is very much minimalist and a bit Scandinavian with the white interior, wide glass doors and wall in the front, and the wooden details. This café is best known for its royal milk tea which is very light but packed with tea flavour. Oh and you must pair it with a bite of their moist, buttery and sweet Madeleines.
