Best Large SUV
MAZDA CX-5 (RM127,653.63, OTR without insurance)
Striking a good balance between value and luxury, the new CX-5 is visually stunning inside and out. This smart-sized people-mover is redesigned with new honeycomb-style grilles, eye-catching 19-inch rims and a beautiful adaptive front lighting system (AFS) with LED daytime running lights. While its bold and elegant new exterior is masculine enough for guys to not feel embarrassed when driving it, this SUV model also comes with just the right amount of femininity that makes us ladies swoon – especially when it comes in the Soul Red Crystal shade (one of the eight colours you can choose from)!
Checking all the boxes
With contemporary interior-styling that’s pleasing to the touch, the inside of the CX-5 hits all the points for the everyday city dweller. While it is a sporty ride that comfortably seats five, there are two key upgrades compared to its previous model that are worth highlighting: one, the availability of rear air-con vents and two, the improved NVH levels in the cabin that are perfect additions given our country’s infamous road conditions and warm weather. Available in five variants, the engines of all the cars under this model are paired with six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission and you have a choice to choose between a front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Another home run for this Japanese carmaker would be the introduction of the new G-Vectoring Control system, a safety feature that is present in all variants of this SUV model that makes the car feel planted at all times even when cornering at high speeds. What’s more, knowing the existence of high tech features such as the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Smart City Brake System (SCBS) will make you feel a whole lot safer. Lastly, you might never think you need it, but the walk away auto lock and rain sensing windshield wipers are features you won’t be able to live without after driving the CX-5. Not to sound dramatic, but we are living in the age of convenience, after all!
