Good news, ladies, Honor 8, the latest from Huawei’s affordable sub-brand, is out in stores today. Deputy Features & Lifestyle Editor, Vasenta couldn’t wait to check out this device!
1. Its sleek design
Available in four different colours – blue, black, white and gold. The Huawei Honor 8 is thin and light, while its body is made from 2.5D glass and diamond-cut aluminum alloy that forms a thin bezel around the phone. So despite it being smooth, you won’t have to worry about dropping the phone easily as you’ll be able to get a firm grip.
2. The ‘Smart Key’ function
Right at the back of the phone, you will find a small button called the ‘Smart Key.’ All you need to do is go to your settings and select how you want to use this function. By pressing the button once, I was able to take screenshots of my emails. When I double pressed the button, I was able to record my interviews, and when I held on to the button, I was able to access my photo gallery. I have to say, this saved me a lot of time, especially when I was in a hurry.
3. Its dual 12MP lens camera
When I first used the camera, I was disappointed to find out that half of my pictures were blur. But after mastering it, it all made sense. The 12MP lens captures light, increases the picture quality and brightens every picture for you. So what if you’re not an expert camera man? The built-in ISP function allows you to improve the focus of each of your photos, turning blur pictures into clear images. The Huawei Honor 8 also lets you blur out your background, but that’s not all! There are eight other photo effects for you to choose from, namely, Mono, Impact, ND, Valencia, Blue, Halo, Nostalgia and Dawn (don’t forget to look out for the different images we managed to snap using this phone in the next few days)!
4. Clear selfies, definitely!
Hate it when you take a selfie or a wefie and everyone ends up looking at different places? Not to worry, as this phone has exactly what you need to take a perfect picture. On the top left, there is a pop-up box that directs you to look into it before you click. The 8MP front camera also comes with an in-built beauty app that adjusts the brightness and clarity, and removes flaws in your images instantly. Rest assured, you are guaranteed a good picture.
5. Long lasting battery
The Huawei Honor 8 phone comes with a 3.000mAh battery and a Smart Power 4.0 maximizing stand-by time function, so don’t be surprised if you have to charge your phone in over a day (depending on how much you use it). Ever since I started playing Pokemon, the one thing I’ve been having trouble with is the life-span of my phone battery. Despite using it to play the game for a span of 5 hours straight, the battery didn’t die! It lasted for almost a day and I have to say, for the times when I didn’t use it to play the game, it easily lasted for almost one and a half days.
