From the impeccable showroom floor, to the perfectly designed fake living rooms, the towering stacks of flatpacks in the warehouse, and of course, those meatballs, there are few experiences in the world like shopping at an Ikea.
While a leisurely browsing session through Ikea can be fun, what if you know exactly what you want and you’re not in the mood for driving all the way out just to jostle with other shoppers through the winding Ikea labyrinth?
Then you’re in luck because Ikea Malaysia is finally going online!
Ikea plans on opening an online store in Malaysia next year, according to The Malay Mail. Which means you’ll be able to purchase your Ikea goodies as easily as you might buy a new pair of jeans on Zalora without ever leaving your home. Just click through the catalogue, add to cart, and have your purchases delivered right to your doorstep.
Ikea Southeast Asia managing director, Christian Rojkjaer, announced the news at the launch of the Ikea’s first Penang store in Batu Kawan today, which has just begun renovations and is scheduled to open in 2019.
“We are planning to launch the e-commerce service in Singapore in the next two weeks, and introduce it in Malaysia next year,” he said.
According to Christian, the service will make it easier for customers to access and purchase the company’s range of products.
