It’s such a good day to be alive.
The International Women’s Day celebration has given us so many great positive vibes in real life and on social media, and we also woke up to some seriously awesome news from Nike.
They’re releasing a ‘Pro Hijab’ line for Muslim women! Finally, they’re targeting a huge market segment that most brands ignore and hijabi women finally have a head cover active-wear.
With the help of professionals and everyday hijab-wearing athletes, Nike took a year to develop the Nike Pro Hijab head cover for hijabi sportswomen and athletes.
The result? An opaque but lightweight and breathable polyester sports-hijab, with an elongated back so it stays securely in place. The pull-on hijab will come in dark, neutral tones to match any sportswear.
The brand noticed a demand when many hijab-wearing athletes expressed their discomfort of wearing their traditional fabric hijabs during competitions.
Professional Emirati figure skater, Zahra Lari (pictured above) has already tried the product and given it her whole-hearted approval.
“I was thrilled and a bit emotional to see Nike prototyping a Hijab. I’ve tried so many different hijabs for performance, and so few of them actually work for me. But once I put it on and took it for a spin on the ice, I was blown away by the fit and the light weight,” said Zahra in a statement.
According to Nike, the final product will be available for sale in Spring 2018.
Thank you, Nike!
