Just yesterday (Monday 6th February), actress Sarah Lian was announced the Best Supporting Actress at the Los Angeles Film Awards, an IMDb-qualifying monthly film competition for filmmakers worldwide! She won for her role as Anna in the English-language, Hong Kong-based film Jasmine, which first premiered at the Hong Kong International Film Festival in March 2015.

Sarah took to Instagram to share the fantastic news:

Jasmine, written and directed by Dax Phelan, tells the story of Hong Kong businessman Leonard To (played by Jason Tobin), who still suffers from the tragedy of his wife’s murder a year ago. Having lost his job and all his friends, Leonard spends most of his time obsessing over the murder, and begins to suspect a mysterious stranger who he sees lurking around his wife’s grave, and who he believes will soon put others in danger.

Not much is known about Sarah’s character Anna from the IMDb film summary or trailer above, so you’ll just have to catch the flick to find out more – sounds intriguing! Jasmine’s official Facebook page provides info on screenings worldwide.

The film has already won numerous awards and nominations across several film festival boards, including five other accolades from the LA Film Awards. Sarah picked up Best Supporting Actress gongs last year from the Los Angeles Independent International Film Awards and the Accolade Competition.

We’re glad our local talents continue to do us proud, and can’t wait to see what else Sarah has in store for us!
