Background

Back in the day, singer Atilia was not the healthy, sporty person she is today. Coming from a production background, she practically lived on instant noodles and coffee, and never really worked out.

She also didn’t see a need to go to the gym as she did not have issues with her weight. Then she tried her first yoga class.

Out of your comfort zone

“I hated it SO MUCH! I woke up the next morning with muscle pain all over but I thought to myself, if one class can do this much to me, imagine what will happen if I go for it every day. Surprisingly, I went for my second class and made a lot of improvements. It’s been 10 years since, and I opened my own yoga studio, Yoga One That I Want, two and a half years ago,” explains Atilia.

When she first started, she didn’t want to teach so she hired teachers, and then realised she couldn’t afford to pay them as well as the rent.

That’s when the urge to take up a teaching course in yoga came about; after getting her certificate, she went all out to practise yoga.

Today, Atilia has seven studios and also gives yoga talks and seminars for corporate and regular clients and conducts classes every weekend.

“This is what I’ve always wanted to do – set up my own business and do something I really love. And I want to put a smile on people’s faces,” she says.

#mydecortemoment: I slapped a bit of the DECORTÉ Moisture Liposome on for hydration and the result was amazing! My skin is more moisturised and my makeup stays on longer too. – Atilia
