#MYSUPERFEMALE: Rebekah Yeoh – Founder of Nimble Fingers

“An empowered female is someone who has exercised her ability to pin point, gather and use her resources to pursue a greater good.” – Rebekah

Most of you would probably recognise her as the granddaughter of the late Yeoh Tiong Lay, founder of YTL Corporation – the place Rebekah currently works full time at.

You’d think that working for a family business warrants flexible working hours, but that wasn’t the case for this bubbly lady. She had to squeeze in this photo shoot during her one-hour lunch break on a Wednesday afternoon. #Respect.

About Rebekah

At only 25 years of age, Rebekah not only carries the legacy of her grandfather’s company but is also the Founder of Nimble Fingers (a Children Empowerment Programme in Cambodia), Deputy Curator at Global Shaper Community Kuala Lumpur (a local branch NGO of the World Economic Forum), Regional Ambassador of Dignity for Children Foundation (that works towards the betterment of education for refugees, stateless children, orphans, abandoned kids as well as those living in poverty), Co-Founder of Recyclothes (a sustainable fashion concept boutique) and a member of the UBS 20/20 Social Impact Circle in South East Asia (a support-like community for next-gen leaders).

You’ll always have family

“My siblings and I were brought up to give 100% in everything we do, especially as we are so blessed to do. We were consciously aware that we have the human capital, financial resources and a pool of knowledge to tap into.”

“All we need to do is realize our potential and materialize our ideas. I feel accomplished in knowing that my family has my back and will always be there as pillars of support. I know that if all things material fail – my family will always be there for me That’s all I need.”

Live with no regrets

“My biggest personal challenge is definitely time constraints, and having to sacrifice my beloved sleep. Multi-tasking and compartmentalizing my time carefully to concentrate on projects, micromanage and solve issues case-by-case was initially a struggle.”

“Every single decision, good or bad has brought me to where I am today. I can say that I am probably the happiest girl in the world. The joy from doing so much definitely exceeds the loss of leisure time.”

Make the most of what you have

“An empowered female is someone who has exercised her ability to pursue a greater good. You don’t have to be wealthy to give back.”

“Visit an old folks home, a children’s home or a refugee centre. People who volunteer their time or work at these centres are those who are giving back to society the most.”

Shizens: “This Essence provides a refreshing burst to my skin as well as improves my skin’s elasticity. The ceramide III really works! It doesn’t leave a greasy after-effect but provides long-lasting radiance for my highly-sensitive skin.”

MIXXO: “These clothes are the best bargain. Their simplicity and minimalism will not go out of style, making the pieces reusable by just pairing them differently.”
