Tell us you don’t get the creeps from watching this teaser trailer.
Do you know anyone who’s afraid of clowns? Well, their coulrophobia could very well be the result of the famous demonic clown, IT. The 1986 mini -series/movie of the same name is back to terrorise another generation. The reboot just released its official teaser trailer and it is giving us some major heebie-jeebies!
The trailer opens with “Georgie” Denborough, joyfully sailing his paper boat on a rainy day before it’s swept into a storm drain. As he peeps into the opening, the painted-face villain (played by Bill Skarsgård) appears from inside the sewer. We’re later introduced to the seven children, including Richie Tozier, played by Stranger Things fan favourite, Finn Wolfhard.
If you’re in a blur about the story, IT is a tale about a group of children, the Losers Club, who live in a fictional small town called Derry in Maine. They team up together after a bunch of people in their neighborhood start disappearing. In the midst of their investigation, they encounter Pennywise, a monstrous shapeshifting being who terrorizes people. And of course, he appears mostly in the form of a clown as his preferred prey are children.
IT was first a novel by the famous horror novelist Stephen King. In 1990, they made a TV mini-series of the book starring Bill Curry as Pennywise. This new reboot is set to be in two parts, producer Roy Lee said in an interview with Collider, ‘We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults, that could potentially then be cut together like the novel.’
The first installment of IT is set to come out on September 8 this year.
