Red-Carpet Beauty at the 2017 SAG Awards

It’s our favourite time of the year – awards season is here!

We’re in the midst of Awards season and to date, we’ve seen some phenomenal looks, including some very well-deserved wins, such as Viola Davis for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture in Fences at the Golden Globes, or the cast of Hidden Figures for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the recent SAG Awards. On top of that, there were the incredible speeches that were a mix of heartwarming love, such as Ryan Gosling’s shout-out to long-time partner Eva Mendes, and also political digs by Stranger Things‘ David Harbour. And that’s just the beginning – more award shows are coming up this month itself, and we can’t wait for some of the big ones such as the BAFTAs, Grammys and Oscars.

Of course, we can’t just talk about the awards season without mentioning the fresh beauty looks served on the red carpets. At the recent SAG Awards, NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin to create the makeup looks for Emma Stone, Michelle Dockery and Brie Larson. Take a look at some of the products used:

Emma Stone

Insp: “Emma’s Alexander McQueen dress features hand embroidered water lilies that reminded me of paintings by Monet – his work always inspires me. Her makeup look has a painterly feel and watercolour effect where you can see the colours and textures working together.”

Michelle Dockery

Inspo: “Michelle wanted to make a statement with color. With that direction, I focused on the incredible Ellie Saab dress she was wearing for inspiration – it is so colourful and electric. I wanted her makeup to feel sophisticated and elegant with an emphasis on her natural features, she has great brows and cheekbones so the only pop of colour is on the lips.”

Brie Larson

Inspo: “For Brie’s makeup look, I took my inspiration from 90’s tone-on-tone neutrals and chose a modernised approach with an updated colour palette to complement her dress. I wanted her makeup to enhance her skin while making her look soft, warm and bronzy.”
