Finally, someone heard our wishes!
The hit movie musical Mamma Mia is getting its long-awaited sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. My heart leapt when I saw the teaser trailer yesterday and today the first trailer has been released.
From the trailer, we know that Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried is pregnant and her godmothers Tonya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters) are back in Greece to help Sophie go through her pregnancy and delivers the baby. It seems like Meryl Streep’s character Donna is nowhere to be seen in the present time, could she be dead? or is she off somewhere with Sam Carmichael?
It seems this sequel is also a prequel of sorts as the story unfolds a few years back when Donna was a young woman. Cinderella‘s Lily James plays the younger version of Donna. She’s of taking over the world post-graduation and in that timeline, she met the younger Sam, played by cutie Jeremy Irvine. The original casts will be playing their respective characters and we’ll also see some new faces. Oh and Cher is also in it!
Three new ABBA songs – When I Kissed the Teacher, I Wonder (Departure) and Angeleyes – will be featured in the new movie, as confirmed by Benny Anderson a member of the quartet Swedish group, ABBA.
I can’t wait to see the film when it hits cinemas summer 2018.
In the meantime, I’ll be here belting out to my ABBA playlist and replaying the trailer over and over again!
