Heading to Kuching anytime soon? If you are, then be sure to drop by The Old Court House and try out some of the tasty delights served in these new restaurants.
Formerly known as the Court House Complex that was built in 1871, which used to be the administrative centre of Sarawak, this complex is an interesting place to visit as there is quite a bit to see and do here. It’s also an interesting place to host events such as weddings, annual dinners, retreats and etc.
But here’s the interesting bit… The Food Journal, which was founded by Ronald Ling and Elvina Ngo has decided to refurbish The Old Court House and transform it into a hub for F&B, entertainment, arts & culture and even make it into an event space that everyone can benefit from. Last month itself, three new restaurants – Commons, Mr Jiu Jie and Den were opened and we can’t wait to try the food served here.
Commons is a place where people and imagination converge. It is shown through its bold designs that merge contemporary looks inspired by local Malaysian artisans and Swedish creativity in the grand, rustic heritage of the Old Court House. It serves western and local comfort food.
Mr. Jiu Jiu
Mr. Jiu Jiu is a casual fine dining with dark toned walls and long drapes. This is a small and intimate space where you can get lost in culinary amazement and conversation. Romantic dinners, or business entertainment, Mr. Jiu Jiu will make all guests every guest special.
This is a gentlemen’s place that’s filled with a wide selection of whiskey from all over the world. The Den is a small, cosy, intimate and private place with dark walls and luxurious interior with jazz music playing in the background.
