With Chinese New Year coming to an end today, it’s time to put away the pineapple tarts, to take your last bite of ba kua, toss those mandarin oranges into the lake and get back to realising your 2018 #fitnessgoals. Pushing the replay button might be a little daunting after almost 2 weeks of pure gluttony (blame it on the butter cookies) but fear not as there is an alternative to eating healthier without compensating flavour. Here is where Fittie Sense will come to aid on your road to a leaner and fitter you.
Strategically located in Jalan Telawi 3 in Bangsar, the streets roam with the trendiest people. Climb a short flight of stairs up to the second floor and be greeted by a welcoming interior with plenty of natural light that will come in handy for that perfect Insta-worthy snap.
But if you think that Fittie Sense is just another health-conscious cafe serving up pretty salad bowls, this is where you’re wrong. Trust us, skeptics about the healthy food movement will slowly be converted with every bite you’ll take.
Take the Konjac Noodle ‘Red Laksa’ with Mollet Egg for instance, all the makings of a great bowl of laksa was present minus the guilt and cloying effect; a smart move by substituting noodles with konjac that’s low in calories and high in fibre. What I loved about Fittie Sense is that there’s something for everyone. Like the air-fried Paprika Sweet Potato fries with Yoghurt & Lime Sauce that was a major fave for us as words were replaced with oohs and aahhs– a sure sign of a crowd pleaser!
For those who crave a side of meat with their greens, the Harissa Chicken Kebabs with Lebanese Slaw and Sumac Salsa kicks it up a notch with its Middle-Eastern flavours. The chicken was tender, juicy and perfectly marinated. Other notable mentions were the Lean Lamb Spiced Ragu ‘Sheperd Pie’ with Sweet Potato-Olive Oil Mash and Sea Bass on Steamed Kailan, Broccoli, Toasted almonds with Orange-lemon Dressing. Both were equally satisfying and wholesome dishes.
Fittie Sense also has a Gut Bar, an interesting take on healthy sodas and smoothies made with Kefir, cultured from micro-organisms and bacteria that’s good for your digestive system. Give the Kefir Pitaya and Grapefruit Soda a go if you love your sodas not overly sweet and slightly tart. If you still have space for dessert (and who doesn’t?), we strongly recommend the flourless cakes and nice-creams! You heard it right, nice cos they’re dairy-free with no added sugar and flavouring.
If there’s one word to describe the food at Fittie Sense, it would definitely be “Honest”. The menu is not covered with convoluted descriptions of their food but simply a thorough list of fresh and wholesome ingredients. As the saying goes, “you are what you eat”.
