How awesome does being 6,000 feet above sea level and on 10.2 acres of pristine greenery sound?
Genting Highlands was a place I visited once a year since I was a little girl. I remember the long queues of the theme park rides (my favourite was the flume ride), lining up to play bumper car although I’ve grown way past the height limit, arguing with my friends on which toy to redeem our arcade games tickets with and shopping at the First World Plaza.
With that said, I also remembered the times when my friends and I could never make a last minute trip to Genting as the hotels are always fully booked and whenever we managed to get rooms, we’d ended up being split up because there were too many of us and not enough large rooms to accommodate such a big group.
When I found out earlier last year that there was a new hotel just a stone’s throw away from the soon-to-be 20th Century Fox World Theme Park that’s in the midst of its completion, it was obvious that everybody including myself had high hopes on what it had to offer. So naturally, when the chance to visit the newly launched resort arose back in April, I volunteered, just to see if it lived up to my expectations.
1. It’s perfect if you’re already planning to drive up
While the Best Western Premier ION Delemen isn’t situated right next to where all the casinos are, it is still only ten minutes (2.5km) away from Genting’s entertainment city. However, if you’re not keen on having to drive up and down the curvy roads, fret not cos the hotel provides complimentary shuttle services for guests (every hour on weekends and every three hours on weekdays).
Psst.. upon my arrival to the hotel, I was served a cup of hot chocolate that tasted like heaven. Be sure to ask the hotel about it if you ever stay there as it is the best hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted in my life. The sweetness really helped to calm my motion sickness as well.
