‘Tis the season to be jolly and this Christmas, Morganfield’s knows the path to happiness starts from your stomach!
If you haven’t got time to prepare a Christmas feast this year, Morganfield’s has got your back. Enjoy your dinner smoked, grilled and barbecued to perfection with its latest festive dishes! I recently got to test their holiday menu, and all I can say is that I was truly satisfied.
It’s introducing two Christmas beverages this year — the Jack Frost Martini (alcoholic) and The Grinch (non-alcoholic). I went for The Grinch, an eclectic marriage of zesty lime and sweet vanilla ice cream, topped off with whipped cream, a cherry and a wafer. If you prefer something with a tangy kick, try the martini: a combo of light rum, coconut liqueur and citrusy blue curaçao liqueur and pineapple juice. If you’d prefer a simple glass of red or white wine, they’re available at Morganfield’s bar too.
We were definitely not spoilt for choice with the Jolly Christmas Platter. The tray arrived heaped with flavoursome meat, namely a half slab of spare ribs (with three sauces to choose from), Jack Daniel’s Glazed Baby Back, grilled sausages peppered with spices and a roasted turkey drumstick that came complete with Christmas stuffing, cranberry jam and gizzard gravy. To top off the dish, there’s corn on the cob, salad and flat chips. For me, the Baby Back and Spicy Devil sausage were the standouts; the spicy, salty flavours of the sausage should satisfy all taste buds, and the Baby Back was smoked to extreme tenderness.
The platter should comfortably serve four, but if you’re a tiny eater or in a smaller group, you can order the mini version of the platter instead:
Morganfield’s also served us a whole, slow-roasted turkey, which should be enough for up to eight people. The turkey was tender – practically melting in the mouth- and came with a delightful pork-and-nut stuffing as well as seasonal veggies, sautéed paprika potatoes, giblet sauce and traditional cranberry jam. You may opt for just the drumsticks, and if you’re not a fan of turkey, try the lamb, sticky bones or baby back ribs instead!
A meal isn’t complete without dessert, so the Christmas log cake made a gratifying end to our dinner. A sweet-tooth satisfier, this chocolate Swiss roll was moist and spongy, and covered with a sprinkling of icing sugar.
So what are you waiting for? From 21st November 2016 to 1st January 2017, these sumptuous dishes are available at all Morganfield’s outlets (though prices may vary in Sabah and Sarawak and Genting Highlands outlets).
