Sunday Brunch will never be the same again with Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar!
First starting out as an event space (P.S. We were there!), Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar has developed into a fine restaurant establishment on its own. Now, the team behind the inventive dishes at Troika Sky Dining are bringing over 20 new dishes to Mr Chew’s new Sunday Brunch menu.
This isn’t your regular Sunday Brunch though: it’ll cost you RM140++ per person, but each brunch dish is refillable, so you can ask for endless seconds if there’s something you really like! The brunch runs from 12 – 3 pm every Sunday, so that’s plenty of time to stuff yourself silly.
First, the brunch kicks off with 10 dishes of ‘Little Plates’ that meld Mr Chew’s distinct Latino and Chinese influences perfectly. For example, fresh Irish oysters served with ginger, wakame, and a black bean dressing; wonton chips with prawn and kimchi cream; and the crowd favourite of tempura soft shell crab tacos. You’ll find exotic options like fresh bamboo salad and betel leaf with wagyu tataki and foie gras terrine (Editor Mei Ling’s FAVE!) to homelier options like deep fried tofu, potato salad, and double-boiled chicken soup.
For mains, you’ll get to sample reinventions of Asian cuisine favourites like twice-cooked crispy duck pancakes, steamed fish served with pickled vegetables and a rice wine vinaigrette, grilled ribeye with a garlic-ginger dressing, and the braised chicken on rice, an amazing take on the traditional Taiwanese pork dish. Take your pick from a choice of sides like baby greens stir-fried in soy butter and roasted garlic and crispy sweet potato seasoned with 5 spice salt-seasoned crispy sweet potato.
Just be sure to save space for dessert, because there are 6 exclusive desserts to choose from that you won’t find on their regular menu or at the dessert bar!
We enjoyed their mochi offerings, which were satisfyingly soft and chewy without being sticky. And you have got to try their take on ice kacang and see what surprise you find waiting for you under your shaved ice! (We got chocolate ice cream and mousse!)
And for those who like a little alcoholic tipple with your brunch, there are cocktails and wines by the glass to choose from. Alcohol is on 24/7 at Mr Chew’s– it’s a bar, after all!
Mr Chew’s Sunday Brunch is available every Sunday (excluding public holidays) from 12 pm to 3 pm at RM140++ per person. Bookings can be made online at www.mr-chew.com.
