#FEMALEChallenge: Sarah Gets Microbangs For The Big Makeover Challenge!

It’s going to be a year of challenges here at FEMALE!

What exactly is the #FEMALEChallenge?

This year, we want to challenge ourselves to do all sorts of things. There’ll be challenges both physical and mental, as well as some suggestions from you, our dear readers! We’ll be sharing our attempts on social media and we want to see you participate as well. So be sure to follow us and submit your entries because our favourites will win prizes and be featured online!

What’s happening this  month?

New year, new look! There’s no better time to experiment with your look and try things a little out of your comfort zone, as our own writers did in this issue’s Make Me Over pages! They decided to ditch the basic for something a little more #extra, like Beauty Editor Sarah did with her brave new haircut!

Love it or hate it, there’s no in-between with microbangs! Sarah took the plunge and chopped off her long fringe for this daring look. Here’s what she thought:

“I’ve had the same hairstyle for the longest time – straight, even and just below my shoulders. But there’s a reason why I kept it that way; not only is it fuss-free (five minutes of blow-drying and I’m done!), but I can style it in different ways with hair clips, braids and ponytails. In the past five years, I’ve only had a short fringe once, the normal kind that’s below the brows that you can side-sweep, and while I liked it, I didn’t keep it for too long as I’d get breakouts on my forehead. A

fter the hairstylist took the first cut, I panicked. You’ve seen girls break down during the makeover episodes of Asia’s Next Top Model, right? I felt that way too for a good five minutes. Then I told myself that whatever it is, I could always clip it back. While I don’t exactly like the look, I suppose that with the right styling I could learn to love it. Everyone else’s reaction has been, ‘You look cute!’ although that wasn’t the kind of look I was going for.”
