With notable clients like the former US first lady, Michelle Obama, helming Hugo Boss back in 2013 for its womenswear line and managing his own namesake fashion label, Jason Wu partnered with Sometime by Asian Designer to come up with a Zalora exclusive tote bag.
Introducing the Edie tote bag, a timeless and contemporary silhouette cater to take you from work to weekends with ease. The tote is the brainchild of Jason Wu GREY x Sometime by Asian Designer collaboration which will be available 4th June 2018 only on Zalora Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
Edie is more than just an arm candy, designed with practicality in mind the tote features three additional compartments. For easy access to all your necessities, the bag closes up with concealed magnetic hardware. The tote comes in two sizes and in six colourways – Slipper, Soft Pink, Creme, Orange, Mustard, and Ultramarine.
Ultramarine is designed exclusively for the Taiwanese market to honour Wu’s birthplace.
The New York-based designer explained that he took inspiration from Josef Albers’ square paintings which you can see reflected on the colour block details of the bag.
“The inspiration for the Edie tote comes from my love of mid-century art and architecture,” he said adding that it marries both old and new which resulted in a timeless silhouette.
“I agreed on this project on so many levels. I love collaborations, and I’ve done many in my career. With this, it’s not just about Jason Wu GREY, Sometime by Asian Designers, and ZALORA. Everyone knows we know how to buy, but what they need to know is we also know how to make. That is something I am proud to share with the world. It’s very impressive, and that is my goal,” says Wu
This collaboration is one of many steps for Wu to engage more with the Asia-Pacific region to help fellow Asian fashion designers and companies come into prominence.
“Jason Wu is an extraordinary burst of creative energy in the fashion industry.” said Sometime’s Head of Product, Nicole W.
“It was our job to make sure that his design continues to inspire bag lovers and at the same time, for our clientele to own exceptional quality bags”.
The bags are retailed at RM569 for the large Edie and RM429 for the mini version on www.zalora.com.my from 4th June 2018, 11.00am (MYT).
