We woke up today to witness the glorious event or rather the red carpet entourage at this year’s Met Gala (or some call it the Oscars of the fashion world). This year the theme is ‘Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between’. The Costume Institute’s exhibition pays homage to the works of the Rei Kuwakubo, the founder of Commes des Garcons throughout her 40 years in the industry. The 74-year-old Japanese fashion designer is the second living honouree to be honoured by the Costume Institute. with the first being Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.
As a tradition, attendees are to dress according to the theme and Commes des Garcons is known for its outrageous avant-garde womenswear designs and we’ve listed some of the A-list who graced the Metropolitan Museum of Art and took the theme’s memo!
