How exciting! American fashion designer, Alexander Wang is partnering with Uniqlo for a new innerwear collection. The two collaborated back in 2008, after 10 years we’re going to see a cool collection that brings Alexander Wang’s sleek, edgy designs with Uniqlo’s Heattech fabric.
According to Vogue, the collection which drops the end of the month features a wide range of basics like bodysuits, tees, leggings, bras, and briefs for both men and women. Expect to see a spread of neutral tones as well as neon green in the mix.
“We thought this could be a great concept where we think about how to marry the two ideas: Heattech and underwear,” says Wang regarding the concept of the collection with Uniqlo.
“Heattech is a program created out of innovation, function, and utility. It’s something that I’ve always been very inspired by, by the advancement and innovation in fabrication. I wanted to think about it in a way where even if it wasn’t just worn on the inside—if you wore it as a top as something to lounge around in—you feel like there’s a style, an aesthetic that could stand on its own.”
These days, a one occasion piece won’t suffice in many people’s closet but rest assured that this collection provides the wearer endless possibilities. “The thing that I love about these pieces is that they can really be worn on so many different occasions. Wear the bra top with high-waisted jeans and a denim jacket,” says the designer.
A fan of the Japanese retailer himself, Wang revealed that he shops at Uniqlo for “socks, underwear, those everyday essential items,” he told Vogue. “It’s not fussy, it’s pure, there’s quality to it.”
We couldn’t agree with him more!
