Singapore Fashion Week (SGFW) starts tomorrow and it’s bound to be the talk of the town, what with Jason Wu headlining the event amongst local names such as Exhibit X Charles & Keith by Yoyo Cao, and other big ASEAN names including our very own Jovian Mandagie as well as Dian Pelangi from Indonesia.
But fashion isn’t just about looking forward to what the big names are going to come up with; it’s also about finding new talents and new brands to covet.
So we’re shifting our focus to eight talented designers who will be showcasing their collection under a multi-label show. They’re part of Singapore’s Fashion Futures programme – a collaborative effort with SPRING Singapore and Council of Fashion Designers of America – that’s created to support the next generation of fashion designers in Singapore.
This year, we’ll see some exciting changes. For the first time, the Fashion Futures 1.0 designers will get to showcase their collection during SGFW under a multi-label show. On top of that, one lucky designer with the most outstanding collection will get a chance to join the Fashion Futures 2.0 designers for a chance to go on a coveted CFDA Immersion trip to New York for an invaluable experience to get an exclusive insight into the international fashion scene and gain recognition on a global scale.
From feminine silhouettes with an edge to stunning wearable art, these are the eight must-know labels to look out for during SGFW!
